Week 36 Book 35--The Body Finder

Ever watch the show The Ghost Whisperer with Jennifer Love Hewitt? The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting has a similar concept...kind of...ok, maybe just a little. :)

Violet is a teenager with a VERY unique talent--she can hear, smell, taste, or sense the echoes that murdered bodies leave behind. This includes murdered children and animals. She discovered this talent at age 8 when the body of a murdered young girl called to her and Violet located her corpse. And in addition to that, Violet can also sense if someone has killed someone or something. Of course this means she'll get imprints from animal hunters or policemen, but she can also tell if she comes across a murderer.

A pretty creepy skill, huh? But nonetheless, it definitely comes in handy, especially when a killer is on the loose, kidnapping teenage girls and murdering them. But Violet may be putting herself in danger while trying to help the local police force locate the killer.

I found this book very intriguing--what a crazy skill to have...I don't think I'd want it! The love story between Violet and her best friend, Jay, was a little unrealistic, but I appreciated that it stayed PG-13 throughout the book. :) A good mystery book for those desperate for YA mysteries and a solid mix of romance and thrill. I think most teenagers will love this book!
