Week 35 Book 34--Blue Plate Special

Madeline, Desiree, and Ariel are all from different generations, but they all share a connection. A connection through the tests and trials of growing up female. Madeline, living in the 1970s, struggles with her weight, alcoholic mother, and self-esteem. Desiree, who grows up in the early 1990s, deals with her mother's sexually abusive boyfriend and the scars he leaves behind. And Ariel, who lives in our current generation, is trying to understand her boyfriend, Shane, and his temper and control issues.

These 3 females just may find that they can find strength through each other--even though their generations are very diverse.

I LOVED this book! I really wish I had thought of the concept. I was engrossed in every girl's story (each chapter is told from a point of view of one of the girls) and couldn't wait to continue each of their stories. There are a few twists and curveballs thrown in the plot that were just genius. And the book really reiterated to me that you may think you know someone and have NO CLUE of their background or lifestyle.

I highly recommend this book...I finished it in just a few days and the story has stuck with me since.
