Books 25 and 26

Here are some great books that I recently read:

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver--loved this book! Sam is killed in a car accident only to learn that she keeps waking up on the morning of her death. She has seven days to discover why she died and what she must do to move on from that death.

Under the Mesquite by Guadalupe Garcia McCall
High school student Lupita is devastated when she learns that her mother has cancer. She must take care of her seven siblings to ensure her mother gets proper medical care. A great story of hope, although quite sad.

Book 24

For some reason, it took me WEEKS to get through Frostbite by Richelle Mead...but once I got into the book, I flew through it! Now I can't wait to read the third in this Vampire Academy series!

In Frostbite, the Strigoi vampires are threatening the Moroi more than they ever have, so Rose and Lissa's school transfers to a ski lodge where safety is extra secure. But Rose's friends Mason, Eddie, and Mia think they can handle the Strigoi themselves and take off to hunt them down...which means Rose is desperate to stop them.

The continuation of this series is great, and I especially love the romance blooming between Dmitri and Rose!

Trying to Catch Up!

Ok, I'm trying to catch up on my reading. Lately here is what I've read:

  • Cryer's Cross by Lisa McMann...a spooky book about a girl whose best friend disappears. She starts hearing his voice, though, telling her that he needs her help in finding him. McMann wrote the Wake series, so I knew there would be a twist in the plot. A gripping read!
  • Rise to Rebellion by Jeff Shaara. I read this for Academic Team; it's definitely an adult-level book about the American Revolution. Not too bad, honestly, especially since you get to read about the war from multiple people's point of view (like John Adams, Ben Franklin, Paul Revere, and George Washington)
  • Ashfall by Mike Mullin. A creepy book about what could happen if a supervolcano erupted from beneath the earth's surface, causing an ashfall and winter-like conditions. This is Mullin's debut novel and he lives here in Indianapolis!
