Week Twenty-Three Book Eighteen--Pretty Little Liars

Ok, I finally bit the bullet and did it: I read Pretty Little Liars. I just couldn't resist after sooo many girls were checking out the series and talking about the TV show.

The book is about four former friends--Aria, Emily, Spencer, and Hanna--who have one thing in common: they were great friends with a girl named Allison that knew HUGE secrets about them. Allison went missing a few years ago, but out of nowhere the girls have started receiving secret messages that only Allison would know. And it sounds like this mysterious person, "A," might be tempted to tell these secrets.

If you've watched the TV show on ABC Family, you might have mixed feelings with starting the book series, because obviously certain details will be changed. Emily has siblings in the book and reddish-brown hair, Maya has a brother, etc., and these are the kinds of details omitted from the TV show. But aside from that, the two stay together pretty well. Keep in mind that there is some mature content involved, and my only concern is that activity like this will soon become the norm to today's teens (drugs, sex, foul language, etc.).

A VERY fast read--I read it in two days in multiple settings and followed along just fine. A good mystery and a good beach read, perhaps?
