Look at my score so far...week six book nine! I'm on a roll! And this book was MUCH better than the last book I read! The cover didn't interest me too much...it just looked a little vague. But this book definitely made up for it!
Fifteen-year-old Stu has just moved for the millionth time to another Air Force base. But this time his move is different, because his mom is the new base commander (yep, his mom, not his dad) and his brother and dad have not come with them (his brother is starting college and his dad is taking a break from the family). So Stu lives two ends of the spectrum--he's given special treatment as the commander's son but lives without half of his family.
As he tries to adjust to his new life, he meets his young neighbor, Billy, and Billy's step-brother, Curtis. Things seem strange at their house--in fact, it looks as if Curtis purposely torments Billy when their parents aren't around. So while Billy is learning to adjust to a new environment, he also has to decide how involved he wants to be in others' lives. And when he learns that his mother is being deployed unexpectedly...things get a little crazy.
This was a nice surprise! Give this one a try...I learned a little about Air Force life and rooted for Stu the whole way!
