Gecko, Arjay, and Terence all have something in common--they were all arrested and incarcerated for a crime. Gecko had a bad habit of stealing cars, Arjay accidentally killed a football player, and Terence just couldn't get away from gangs. But they've now all been given a second chance...if they can stay out of trouble.A man named Doug has offered to chaperone the three boys in a halfway house for a year, and if they can stay clean, they will be allowed to return to their families. But Terence still has a rebellious streak in him, and this streak causes a scuffle...and at the end of that scuffle, Doug is unconscious in a hospital bed. When Doug wakes, he loses his memory, meaning he doesn't know anything about the boys or his halfway house.
And if the boys can't make everything look normal, they'll all have to return to juvie/prison.
This is another great book by Gordon Korman. I loved the three male characters, because they were likable and frustrating at the same time. And I really rooted for them throughout the book, hoping not only that they would fool authorities but also learn the best ways to succeed in life (which ironically includes truth!). A great read for guys and girls!
