Week 32 Book 28--Wish You Were Dead

I've been wanting to read this book for awhile because my students are always telling me how much they love it and that it's scary. And it's hard to find good YA mysteries...there just don't seem to be too many books in this genre. The book follows three different viewpoints. First, someone is blogging online about how much they despise the popular kids in school (even giving names of students they'd like to see dead). Second, students from school are actually disappearing and their captor is giving very creepy messages. Finally, the book centers around high school student Madison who knows the kidnapped students and is afraid she could be next. I loved this book! I love a good-old-fashioned mystery, and this one definitely kept me guessing. Todd Strasser is an excellent writer (he wrote this year's Rosie book Boot Camp) and he did not disappoint with this one. It was a thriller at times and I can see where students think it is scary. And it was great to read a book that had a conculsive ending, no open-ended guesses. Definitely check this book out--a quick, edge-of-your-seat read!
